Rat Race Cycles has been keeping the bikes of South East London (and beyond) running smoothly since 2008. We’ve built an excellent reputation for our expertise, skill and knowledge, as well as our friendly and welcoming attitude. Whatever your background, whether you’re an occasional cyclist, a regular commuter, a weekend racer or even a national champion, you want your bike to run as smoothly and swiftly as possible, and we’ll look after you.

We offer bicycle servicing and repair, maintenance, custom builds and also excellent wheel building. We’ve been servicing bikes from our workshop in Nunhead for over 11 years and we pride ourselves on keeping up to date with the latest tech innovations and news in the cycling world. We’re owned and run by experienced and qualified mechanics and we’ve built and maintained some of the hardest-working – and also some of the fastest – bikes in the world.

A bike we were very happy to work on, but not a job we want anyone to need: we restored Tom's lovely @enigmabicycles to its former glory after he had to leave it locked up briefly in central London and someone stole the handlebars. So great to be back at @hernehillvelodrome on a Wednesday evening for the start of Track League 2024! Another lovely @hhvsunsets, the return of @hhv.shitposting, managed to shout myself slightly hoarse cheering for @notesmewiley, @richhallrichhall, @josef_murmann, Adam N and many others (whose Insta usernames I don't know!) from @dulwich_paragon_cc, @peckhamcc, @velociposse and @vc_londres! We're looking for a new member of Team Rat Race! Look out for these at the Olympics later this year! Strictly for indoor track racing only, the @a_dugast silk / latex tubular tyres weigh next to nothing (190g) and have exceptionally low rolling resistance. I found it very hard to stop staring at this bike when it was in the workshop; I grew up mountain biking in the early-mid 90s so the kit and the detail on this bike I found mesmerising. This is a fake chain.
